Following from debuting UNIQ∙Ǝ!’s first four projects in 2021 at Milan’s FuoriSalone last September and Dubai’s Downtown Design last November, the brand finally revealed the latest project at ICFF | WantedDesign entitled MANTA, developed by Milan-based architect Daniele Lo Scalzo Moscheri and his designer team Stefano Fucina and Danill Katsnelson as UNIQ∙Ǝ!’s fifth designer faucet from the WATER IS THE LIMIT luxury collection.

The aerodynamic design, inspired by the Manta ray sea creature, came from a profound exploration of marine life and a deep understanding of the natural forms within the aquatic environment.

The storytelling of this project is key as within it stems the inspiration behind the development of an exclusive design.

“Having to constantly actively move through water, sea creatures have evolved some of the most creative and efficient shapes known to us. And few creatures have achieved that efficiency such a high degree of elegance as Manta ray has,” stated the team from Studio DLSM in their concept proposal. “The entirety of its wave-like shape is designed to be directly involved in the flow of water through all its stages.”

The manta ray is an exemplary, aesthetically-perfect aquatic animal with a large, diamond-shaped body characterized by triangular pectoral fins and an impressive wingspan. Its anatomy is designed to be integrated with water; a flat, elegant creature gifted with a unique, streamlined body that enables its agility and manoeuvrability within the marine environment.

The MANTA project transformed a simple faucet into an organic form with idiosyncratic design inspirations, and thanks to the remarkable and innovative technological solutions available, UNIQ-Ǝ!’s engineering team driven by CTO Andrea Medina, was able to meet the design request proposed by the studio and incorporate a hidden outlet for the water flow; an impossible task with the traditional manufacturing method.

 “In our profession there are few moments more significant and exceptional than when a well-established industry gets to move to an all-new, cutting-edge method of manufacturing,” explains Daniele Lo Scalzo Moscheri. “Having an opportunity to be involved in such a transition as a designer is a great privilege as it grants us possibilities that generations of our predecessors could only dream of.”
